Does wave affect normal taking it out of the pocket?

Just wondering if the wave feature makes it annoying to take Emersons out of your pocket when not trying to use the wave, i.e. just pulling it out of your pocket regularly? Thanks.

I only own one emerson. A cqc8. I carry it in the watch pocket of my jeans. I have to try to wave it. If I'm wearing a long coat the wave is spoiled.

Not if you know how to do it. If you grasp the knife handle so that the blade cannot open, i.e. with your fingers wrapped around the blade, and pull the knife out slowly without catching the wave on the back seam of your pocket, it works just fine.

You just have to do it slightly slower, and more carefully than a non waved knife. Other than that no hassle.

I have been carrying Emersons for a year now, and really do not find it any more inconvenient than any other knife.

As a matter of fact, I was goofing around earlier today, and tried to wave my CQC7 out of my pocket and totally failed! LOL

Oddly enough, I don't use the wave feature and simply find it an aesthetic embellishment. I have on more than one occasion partially deployed the blade when removing it from my pocket and nearly cutting myself. I have a dedicated knife pocket on most of my everyday pants/shorts (5.11 brand) and carry the knife tip down with the clip facing my thigh so as to prevent the wave from catching on anything. The reality is I don't flick my knives open, I just use two hands.

If you pull it out slowly (or just not quickly while dragging the spine along your pocket seam) there is less chance the knife will open. But you do have to look, as it often will be open an inch or so and you'll either have to open it all the way or close it.

I usually only do that when I'm turning in for the night and take it out of my pocket. Otherwise, when it comes out it's because I need to use it, and I use the wave 98% of the time. It is VERY handy, especially when what you need to cut on is already in your other hand.

I have found that if I just pull the knife away form the seam of the pocket it is not a problem. It never opens accidentally. Not sure about other people, but it works easily for me on all my waved knives.
