I have 1980s fisherman wenger model from my Dad, and there's a few tools I'd like to be replaced as well as the back scale. Does Wenger offer refurbishing on older models? I realize its the last year that Wenger's producing knives and it would mean a lot to me if I can get this knife refurbished while keeping the front scale.

Thanks,
BN

Best way to find out is shoot them an email. Get a straight answer from the horse's mouth.

I shot em an email yesterday actually. I was just curious as to whether they do refurbishing's on older models and if so, to report on this thread. Thanks though.

Victorinox handles Wenger now and their policy is to replace the knife when they judge that it would be easier/cheaper than fixing it. However, if you let them know that the knife holds a special value for you, they might fix it. I've sent old SAKs that I didn't want replaced and enclosed a letter saying so, they were repaired.

I sent them to Switzerland. I don't know if there's a US repair facility and how they work.

I'm aware that Victorinox handle Wenger. There is a US facility for repairs, I just hope they'll be able to refurbish it.

They replied to my email and supposidly they can, I just need to make specific instructions and put with emphasis "sentimental value." I guess now the only thing I can do is send out the knife and find out. At worst, it will just be returned back to me. Its unfortunate that this year is the last year for the production of wenger swiss army knives.
