Does you Sebenza (or any other knife) trigger memories of unrelated people or objects

It seems that every time I handle my Sebenza it triggers old, and pleasant, memories of completely unrelated things.

Almost every time I pick it up, I think of my old Navy Deck jacket (which I still have and wear regularly). I suppose that the relationship is that the deck jacket is another completely functional item that is exceptionally rugged and well designed.

Handling it often causes me to think of old Master Chief Ellis who I served with 40 years ago. I have no clue as to why, but the old guy had a legendary set of life experiences: serving on heavy Cruiser during WWII, serving on merchant ships after the war and then settling down as a law enforcement officer before returning to the Navy during the Korean War. He was on active duty in his late 60's, independently wealthy, and a personal friend of Senator Goldwater. I had not even thought of him for years. Why would a Sebenza trigger a memory like that? I have never had it happen before.

Finally, handling my Sebenza reminds me of the salt water spray on destroyers during rough seas. I have been retired from the Navy for over 21 years.

Does this happen to anyone else??

Nice story, would love to see some pictures of your well used Sebenza!

For me, it reminds me of some adventures in the outdoors I've had it clipped in my jeans and it's been always handy,

WTH is that white stuff?

Moon, thanks for your service, BTW. My Sebs don't remind me of anything other than I like the feel of smooth titanium slabs. Of course, I've been out of active service since 1959, so perhaps have forgotten everything prior and since.

Memories of hiking, camping and romping around in nature.

Gooey smores, sizzling hot dogs, scary story telling, crackles and pops, the contrast between a scorched face and frozen back, roar of the ocean, wolves howling in the forest . . .

And yes, this NR has been batoned A LOT, and begs for more . . . :)
