Does your Sheath determine which knife you carry

I really like my BK16 but just piddling around the yard with the issued sheath was quite the pain. One snap two snaps you had to use atleast one or risk loosing the knife. Just wasnt convenient. So I bought a Kydex sheath and that was a big improvement but just didn't get me to my comfort zone with ease of use. So I picked up a dangler for the kydex. Now thats the ticket for me. Lays at the right height easy to draw and resheath. Now my 16 and my MK1 see constant useage. The same goes for my BK4 it gets used 90% of the time over thd BK9 just based on the issued sheath alone. I love the 4s issued dangler sheath and it didnt cost me anything extra. Full disclosure the BK4 is my favorite blade and then the 9. Don't hate on me The Warrior The Warrior lol

What!!!????? Just kidding. Iffin I used the 4 more, it would probably be my fav too.... not. ;)

I have to say that I use my 21 the most out of my Beckers. I don't know that it would be my favorite though. I guess it would be a toss up between my 9 and 21.

Like this? I was just playing with this the other day!

Want mind blown? Buy another 4 sheath and put your 9 in it

I tried that. But the 9 has a tendency to roll out of the sheath if not snapped. The 4 just stays right there no matter how often its knocked around as I'm clearing viney things and branches Without being snapped in.

I usually carry my 9 in the 4 sheath. I just use the same sheath. The 4 doesn't buckle into the 9 sheath but just sitting in the safe while I am out flogging the 9 it doesn't really matter. I also only use the bottom strap. I wrap the top strap around behind the belt loop and out of the way. I thought about cutting it off but this way it is still there for when I strap it to a pack and want to use both straps. I prefer a dangler on such large knives.

Most of my knives have more than one sheath. The sheath does not determine which knife I carry, but the method of carry determines the sheath. If walking or hiking a regular strong side belt carry works. If sitting, driving or canoeing a neck sheath or cross draw sheath is used. If the sheath that came with the knife does not hold it securely in the field, than I either alter the sheath or replace it.

I would almost dare to say that with fixed blade knives, the sheath is almost as important as the knife as most times you spend much more time carrying the knife than using it.

For getting on and off a horse, ATV, motorcycle and when carrying a sidearm I prefer a ranger style sheath. The knives that I have such a sheath for get the more carry time.

Most sheaths that come with most knives don't suit my fancy and while I may adore the knife (Tweeners being perfect examples) I didn't carry them nearly as much until I acquired sheaths more suitable for my preferences.

^^^^ What he said. Same deal with handguns. The holster is important if you are going to carry. That tucked in the waistband stuff is more Hollywood than real. Not to mention dangerous in many cases.

I'd like to try baldric rig carry, but wouldn't know where to get one! I just don't carry big choppers on my belt, they pull my pants down! :D

When Cory let me borrow his M18:D, it had a baldric rig on it and it was actually comfortable carrying around the yard chopping stuff up! I'd love to try carrying my bk21, 1311 or bk9 this way when at camp in the woods.
