There are a few differences that set the Limited Editions apart, such as the zero edge geometry which is really not possible to do on a coated blade because of blending considerations. Whereas some companies charge more for their coated knives, we have much more hand work in a satin finish because of the differences in required equipment.
We, likewise, employ a finer grained, jet black paper micarta instead of the canvas grade that we normally use in order to enhance the look of the handle.
The Limited Edition is also laser engraved with our logo, a serial number, Limited Edition designation, and with the model name of the knife. This adds greatly to the collectibility of the knives. It not only enhances the looks of the blade but allows for detailed tracking of the knife's individual history.
As for performance. . . It's the same steel, same heat treat, and same great Busse Combat Guarantee.
If you want a "user" that you can punish, I would, personally, go with the coated version. Of course there are those who just simply prefer a satin finish and many who will beat the Limited Editions beyond all recognition. We love to see our knives get a good whoopin'.
I hope this helps,
Jerry Busse
