Anyone ever make one?
This little guy's harness is getting old and I thought I could make my daughter's day with a new harness....

I traced the one he has on for general fit.
The flaps hold together with velcro (hate the stuff) and then the fast tex buckle secures it.
2 D rings, one on each flap, behind the buckle halves, hold the leash.

I could close the harness with a belt closure but will I need 2 D rings to distribute the load?

Any voices of experience out there?
:)

I made a harness/seat belt for my Goldendoodle last year.
I fashioned it after a nylon harness she outgrew and used some latigo leather I had around.
I wanted a horse tack theme so used brass harness buckles and d-rings for the hardware and hand stitching.
The pop rivets seen here weren't strong enough so I replaced them with copper rivets

Thinking the latigo might bleed colour when it got wet I lined it with some chrome tan.
There have been no problems with bleeding from the straps at all.

She was more of a pup back then, and just learning to be good, so I added the handle so we could catch her easier.

Closest I've ever come was repairing a harness for a Guide Dog for a local gal. Her husband said it was the best one out there. Don't recall who made it but there was some awesome work in it. Thats some nice work there I iamunique127 ! Good call on lining the latigo as some latigos do bleed.

Thanks IAU!
That’s some nice work.
You’ve got the design wheels turning…..

I started making one for our pooch, but walked away from it since I couldn't figure out the next steps. Think maybe I'll get back on that soon, since the nylon one I have is starting to enter its replacement stage

Well, that took longer than expected. :)
what’s a new harness without a matching leash?
I presented it in a gift bag with a tab on the leash that said “pull slowly “
6’ of leash really builds the anticipation.

I went with a direct copy of his existing harness, just up sized a bit. The design is well thought out and I realized that I’m not going to improve or simplify it.
My daughter was, as the Brits say, “Over the moon”

Now if I can only get her to take a photo of him in it. LOL

Very nice my friend! Thats a lot of lacing and then lots of edge work on that leash!

Lots of lacing for sure. The second leg hole turned out way better than the first, so I ripped out the first and relaced it.
After a couple hours ya get the hang of it
Thanks for the kind words!
