I've just bought a can of dog repellant to keep the strays a bay when I walk and was wondering how it would affect a person should the need arise.Has anyone been on the receiving end of this stuff and how did it affect you.
Don't know about the boughten stuff but a good homemade dog repellent can be made by mixing ammonia and water and putting it in a good water pistol. Works every time.
Another kind of homemade dog repellent can be made by putting handloaded .357 Magnum cartridges into a real revolver!
In all seriousness, you can visit a uniform shop that supplies postal workers. Mailmen often carry a can of mild pepper spray clipped to their belts. If you want to move up the scale a bit, there are sprays suitable for use with grizzly bears and similar.
Lastly, you also have the option of an impact device. A long but thin flashlight (e.g. 6-cell "C") Maglite can provide light and an easily-defended weapon in court...should you ever need to apply it to the skull of a man or beast. You would still probably want to have a SureFire or similar for premium-quality lighting. Good luck with your selection.
