Dog Soldier edge thickness

Hello, i'm interested in the Dog soldier 8, I'd like to know from some owners (both of the 6 inches versione and the military over run 8) how many millimeters is the blade thickness at 1 mm from the edge, please. Also if someone already used it I'd like to know their impression and how it behaves vs the basic 7,8,9 and the Hellrazor. Thank you.

Well I looked into it and decided my measurement skills aren't up to the task. One millimeter behind the apex is still on the bevel of the edge. Then there's the blade coating above that.
It's THICK. However it's adjustable to whatever you want, which beats the alternative of being too thin for your liking.

If you really want a dubious number, I'd guess ~0.040".

Definitely gonna thin out my DS6. I stropped it to shaving sharp but it just does not cut, the edge angle is very high. But better this way than the other way around.

They are both pretty thick behind the edge, I have a BGTG and I think they have identical geometry.
The TG is thick behind the edge, it isn’t a phenomenal slicer but will cut.
The TG/DS8 Saber grind puts a lot of metal behind the point and bevel.
Touched up with sandpaper/strops the DS6 cuts well enough :D

Thanks to all for the replies. So i guess for the moment we should settle for about 0.040/0.060" (about 1/1.5mm). Yeah it's a bit on the thick side to be efficient. I'd definitely want it more on the 0.040" (or even less) range...

The great thing about having too much steel is you can remove it.

Not enough is a bigger problem....

Been mulling over the idea of ffg on both my bgtg and the ds6. But saber batons better....

Choices choices...

Yeah, i think you'd be better off reprofiling the edge than starting to grind off material and changing the geometries too much (also if you intend to do a radical regrind keep in mind that busse could refuse to honor the warranty in case of failure...) ;)

Anyway I only partially agree with you: while i think too that it's better too much than to little, I believe that a knife in this price range should arrive at home already perfectly optimized... In this case I'm ok because it seems it only needs minor adjustements and the knife has some interesting features but as a general rule i don't really like spending 300 dollars on a knife that I have then to reprofile
