This morning I took the dogs out for a walk in my favorite little prairie. The cool nights and warm days are starting to produce a little colour. I can almost taste fall now.

Golden rods are just about at their peak. In some areas the golden rod fields are above my height!

Took a little break by my favorite oak tree. The BK7 and RC-6 came out for some show.

Another downed tree that caught my eye.

Hmm advantages of short hair breeds versus long hair breeds. You decide!

When I got home, our own Rick (Magnussen) showed up at the door. He wanted to show me his camp knife about to be sent off to Brian Andrews. I should have took some pictures, but we just sat around chatting it up for a bit. He was on his way with his kids in tow visiting his parents not too far off so the stay was short. I do have to say - man is that camp knife of his a piece of work! Feels stunning in the hand. Its just one of those knives that you simply have a hard time letting go of!

Then my post-doc Gord dropped by. Phew, haven't had this much company and a long time. I decided to tutor him on bow drill and used some of the left over wood that I snagged from Doc Canada last weekend. Gord took to the bow drill with ease. He just might be a convert to the primitive skills now!

After that I started up a charcoal fire and grilled up some salmon and pork kabobs. We had a few beers and then he left. A great sort of slow, but fun Saturday!

Great stuff Ken, those Farmer knives seem very under-rated on this forum !!!

Canada is a beautiful place. Wow... I could live there for sure. Thanks for the pictures and post.

Yep those farmers have a way about them. Wonderful confort and as per reputation sharp as heck!

Ken I wish could have stayed longer... as it was, my kids gave me crap for taking so long. I'm glad you liked the contest knife... its off to Brian's place first thing Monday.

Great pics... I recognize a few of those spots...

i see the ruck sak is getting some use, glad to see it kicking around.

Looks like you have a nice place to tour around there K, I can't wait till' its more fally' here.

Hey Fonly, yes, I really like the saw on that thing! That little extra length just seems to make it far more effective than the saw on the camper model.

Awesome pics Ken. I love the butterfly and the goldenrods. the pic with you dogs face up close is so cute.

Thanks for sharing,

Bryan

Nice pictures Ken. Thanks for taking us for a fall walk. It seems so clean and crisp in the fall.

P.S. did you ever get your fungus?

Paul

Yes Paul,

Sorry I didn't send you a reply, but thanks for that excellent specimen of chaga. Already managed to catch a spark with it by flint & steel. I'm working on getting some good fatwood for you :D
