This may have been asked before and I don't want to start a rukus.
I wanted to know which one you guys really feel "cuts it" as a user the dogfather or FBM? Differences in steel aside

What makes that question hard to answer is to which FBM do you refer?

CGFBM?
FBM LE?
FFFBM?
NMFBM?
MOFBM?
Show special variants not described above?

Steel and HUGE cost difference aside, the DogFather has a Resiprene-C handle as compared to the Micarta on the FBM's, making it easier on the hand when chopping. However, they are both great knives, and you can't lose with either one.;)

If you like Res-c go Basic.

All the way!

The Dogfather is no match for a B-11, and Id rather have the B-10 as well.

Not knocking the Big Dog. Its a great chopper. The B-11 is better in every category, and the B-10 is close at chopping but is much more universal.

The ergos on the Busse's are much better IMHO. Regardless of steel.

Only preference to some might be the larger DF handle, but that can be sent to Busse for a change so IMO the Basics win.:)

I'll put my vote in for the FBM, original with mags and CBT's. I love the look of those things! :)

The Dogfather I once had, the edge was incredibly thick, removing enough steel behind the edge would have been a little work.

B10 or B11 as suggested by KH are excellent alternatives and a great value for INFI

I regret letting my basic 10 go. FBM's are super cool and fun to play with but not as practical as a DF or one of the Basics mentioned. Everyone should have a Battle Mistress though.

Between the two, I'd go Dogfather, but off the board, hunt down a 1311, res-c comfort, out chops the b10/b11 , light weight, and makes a good machete also

Not a bad idea at all! Its an awesome tool for sure. Much for formidable chopper.

Good luck finding either one for sale at a good price. I can't tell you the last time I saw a Dogfather for sale. I'd order an 1111 from the Scrapyard site. I like mine a lot.

I'd say the. CGFBM....closer to weight and size

Ding, Ding, Ding ... we have a winner!

IMHO the CGFBM is the best all rounder of the FBM family. Looks cool to boot.

But if you like the comfort of the Res C handle, then a DF is the winner for chopping value. Can't say about thick edges, never used a DF. But then, I think that most Bussekin have thick edges, and so get reprofiled if they are users.

The B11 is a great chopper, as kh noted, but the B10 feels more neutral to me; so if chopping is important, the DF would be better than a B10.

Good point! Forgot about the 1111, great option

Very simple answer...

MOFBM is correct.
The other guys are wrong.
