Hey man... glad to see you are having fun with the new camera! Cool pics... keep em coming...

What kind of light source are you using? It looks great.

I'm using the light stands that came with a photo tent I bought online. The light comes from two high output 5400K Full Spectrum Compact Fluorescent Photo bulbs, housed in aluminum reflectors and tripods. I put two incandescent lamps sans the shades around the tent also.
The main thing I am going through now is learning about the manual settings on the camera, and what aperture and shutter speed is all about. Lighting is critical though, as those values depend on the lighting.
I'm having a blast.

I like that photo too....cool! Keep 'em coming.

what is your apeture on that?

either it's very high (f32ish) or your very far away from the knife and zoomed in...

I get so used to shooting in f/2.8 (f/2.4 when I had my good lenses :( ) that I forget what f/8-f/16 can really do. I just kind of assume that anything with a really long depth of field at close range is the highest apeture setting available.

impressive

Getting better and better, try outdoor lighting, early in the morning or at sunset where the light is not so intense...
