I just got this beauty yesterday. I was at work and my girlfriend called to tell me there was a package waiting for me. It was killing me because i had about another 8 hrs to work.

Anyway to the knife. The sheephorn is incedible, the grind lines are great, the blade is so sharp that the hair on my arm just fell off when I opened the box. It is nice and slim, and the leather sheath is great. I had a great time running around trying to find things to cut. I can't wait until hunting season is here (dove opens sept 1 I think).

And Bob was a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recomend gettting a knife from him before he realizes his prices are too low.

Bob's knives get better and better.

Beautiful horn on that classy hunter.
What is the blade steel?
Jeff

It is ATS-34, I think.

Sorry but I just can not think of it right now.(oh no a senior moment at 26:eek:

The only thing for me that comes close to making knives is sharing them with like minded individuals. I so much appreciate it when someone buys one of my knives becuase it allows me to make another one that I hope is slightly better then the last. The blade steel is ATS-34.
Thanks Rich.

The "better one" will be mine ;) heh heh heh (I took your advice RJ - ordered one today :D )

Bob, what can I say... you've got some skills, brother. Very elegant and well executed designs.

That is a very nice knife! For some reason the word tight comes to mind. Guess like in reference to some female anatomies, everything in exactly the place it should be.

Hiya RJ. I knew you and I had similar taste in knives. I got your knife's cousin from Bob. Sweet, aren't they? Bob told me it was inspired by Steve Johnson's design. And Bob is great to deal with!

I completely agree with all of the positive comments about Bob's knives. I was fortunate enough receive one of his "SRJ Hunters" in White Ash Burl last month and I've been delighted with it (my knife can be seen on this page from Bob's website; it's the second knife on the page, between the two stag-handled beauties). Great design, wonderfully clean execution and definitely some of the best value in the custom arena. I can't recommend Mr. Doggett's work highly enough. Good stuff :D!

Nothing like the SMELL of grinding sheep horn in the morning :barf: :(

Bob,

That's my favorite one........SO FAR !!!

EVERYONE ELSE,

I handled Bobs first folder at the Guild show last weekend. ALL I can say is, STAY TUNED ;)

Dave, I really like the knife. The stag on it is perfect. I may just have to get one to match my sheephorn. After all I don't want mine to get lonely. :)

I agree with everyone... Bob is getting better and better with every new piece he makes, and he is also a hell of a nice guy. I want one of his pieces badly, but I have to wait until he makes folders, because unfortunately I don't collect fixed blades.:(

So Bob... Hurry with those folders!

:D:D:D :D :D

Great work, Bob! The more I see your knives, the more I like your work, specially your finish.
Now if you would only tell me how to post pics on the CKD Forum...

Steve,
My stuff doesn't even come close to your knives. Now they are awesome.

If you haven't seen his knives, click his link:)

A beautiful knife RJ. Bob did a great job. As has been stated his work is getting better and better. I love the sheepshorn handle.

Bob, I think you are a bit to modest. Steve's knives are great, but so are yours.

I have to agree with everyone else. Bob, your stuff has improved greatly since I saw the first one.

Hey, I like 'em so much, I'm getting the first damascus blade Bob has made. A fighter style with 30-twist damasteel, Ed Caffery's Spiders 'n Snakes bolsters (blued) and white lip pearl handles.

You should also see the semi skinner he just ground out. The grind lines are impeccable.

Got to spend a few minutes with Bob at the Blade Show this year. His knives are very clean from stem to stern not only that you get the added bonus of working with a good guy. Got to mess with his first 2 folders. Watch out, there is another one (folder maker) in the wings that will make a mark.

It has been a pleasure to see his work grow in the last couple of years that I have known about him and the best part is that after you meet him you know he will just keep getting better. In all honesty I am not sure how he can improve on his fixed blades, but I am sure he will. I have not used one (yet), but his design, fit and finish are way up there and I would have to bet that the performance of his blades fall right in line with the other aspects.
