Early this spring my dog started skipping a meal now and then. He's about 6 now and I didn't think too much of it. Then he wouldn't eat dog food but would eat tidbits from the table. I thought maybe he had a stomach problem, but when I took him to the vet, he tested positive for Lyme disease and he's on antibiotics. He's in rough shape now and still losing weight in spite of me spoon feeding him.
Lyme disease never occurred to me or I'd have gotten him to the vet a lot sooner. My reason for posting this is to let all of you know that one of the first symptoms of Lyme disease in a dog is loss of appetite. I wish I'd known this sooner.....I may lose him.
This picture with my grandson is from before he got sick.

I sure hope he gets better, thanks for the info, I wasnt even sure or not that a dog could get Lyme disease, well keep yall in our prayers, charlie

I hate to hear that. My daughter checks her dog for ticks religiously, and he still got bitten. Fortunately, she saw the mark and got him to the vet in time for the antibiotics to get it under control.

Loss of appitite is also one of the first signs in people, along with fatigue and achiness. I got it a few years ago, but didn'y know it at first. It turned into spinal miningitos, and I had to undergo 21 days of IV drips. It can become extremely serious. Getting to the doc early is the key. Beleive me, boys, you don't wanna get it.

I hope your dog pulls through. Thanks for posting — I'll remember to keep an eye on my pup's appetite.

He's still with us, I'm still force feeding him, and I'm not ready to give up. Thank you all for your thoughts & prayers.

Dang Kieth , I'm truly sorry to here this . That is the exact symptoms our dog ( my avatar ) had last year before we lost her . They told us it was her pancreas . Whatever it was wiped out her kidneys .

Sorry about your dog.I hope he gets better soon.

Smoke,Prayers & Best wishes to you & yours
