Now that I'm back to nurturing my folder preoccupation, I'm kicking myself for letting some of my collection go. I sold or traded quite a few knives a few years ago. The one I feel really stupid about selling was my original Spyderco Calypso Jr. in Micarta. I sold or traded other knives that I decided I didn't "need," and I wish I had them, but selling the Calypso Jr. was none too bright.

What's the one sale or trade you'd take back if you could?

Microtech SOCOM. Got one used in a trade, superb build quality, and it took a very crisp edge. Also a leaf point Lil' Temperance, I think I probably got these two before I fully appreciated their design and build.

Shmackey,
Don't dispair, it's not too late.
I have a serrated one up for grabs on the trade forums (under "Folders for trade").

Happy hunting (...or fishing),
Allen.

I have nearly every knife I've ever owned. I wouldn't sell or trade any of my 'accumulation'.

My father gave me a randall knife when i was around 12, it was an attackand survival. I had no idea what it was nor how much it was worth, well anyway when i was about 16 I sold it for around 200 to buy a damned playstation. Now I wish I still had it and if I had sold it sold it for moer. I sold it to a friend an well he wont sell it back.

I sold or traded away 2/3's of my knives over the last year, and I sometimes regret one or another, but I get over it once I realize that if I had kept that Shadow III or Ronin or Sebenza or Chinook 2, I still wouldn't have used them at all. OK! OK! I wish I still had the Shadow III!

I never sell knives.

I have cheap chinese crap knives from when I was a kid that are still in a drawer.

Just can't seem to part with them.

I think the only knife that I bought and willingly parted with was a CRKT Stiff K.I.S.S. that I had for a couple of years and then gave to a friend for his birthday.

Chris Reeve Project One I sold about a year ago due to financial necessity. Oh well, it gives me an excuse to buy a Shadow 1 when I have the funds together.

I don't really see what you're so bothered about the Cal Jr. You could always just buy another one. The ones I kick myself over are irreplaceable customs or more expensive knives or hard to get Discontinued knives.

Once when I had 10 Microtechs I sold them to buy customs.
But I had a rash of bad custom knife experiences and gave up on customs for a while and started buying MTs again because I knew I liked them and they would rarely disappoint me. Now I have nearly every one they've ever made and I'm back to buying customs again; albeit more carefully.

But THIS (see attached) was my biggest "D'oh!" (as you so elegantly put it).
This BM Auto is one of the best Auto designs out there, IMHO, and my only Non-Microtech auto. I HAD one and traded it a while ago for something I thought I wanted more at the time and I REALLY regretted it. I just got another one in the mail today, DEAD MINT! I'm happy. :D

Brought my first custom knife quite a few years ago from a guy named Howard Clark. :) He had just earned his Journeyman's Smith stamp. It was a very well made fancy bowie in damascus, blue oosic handle with a walrus ivory butt. Years later, I traded it for another nice knife, but now I wish I had kept it even though I came out great on the trade only because Howard's skill and sharing with others had caused the knife to rise pretty well in value.

It's very hard to find a plain-edge NIB Calypso Jr. in Micarta. I think I bought mine at a pretty reasonable price too...

I have the manual version of that one in my pocket right now. :)

A cheap chinese-made balisong which is not worth anything.
However, because they are hard to come by down here, I would definately take that back, or should I say, not have lent it to a friend. :grumpy:

And Lone Wolf is making new Paul Knives. It wouldn't be the exact same...
