I took my Small wood Damascus sebenza into work to show the boss, as he was interested in seeing my Damascus steel pocket knife I had told him about. Well after he was sutably impressed, I put the knife into my pocket and got on with work. I did not realise it, but at some point a 5 pence coin got in the pocket...

The result was it got into the handle, has scrached the inside of the Ti handle in three places (quite wide and very noticable marks) and worst of all put a nick in the Damascus blade edge. IMFG was I... annoyed with myself over this one. I have been able to strop the damage somewhat and using the white stones on the sharpmaker at 15 deg angle, get the damage to about .8 of a mm so as to prevent the damage fracturing and being a far more serious case! I have left the indentation that is left (1/3 the size it was) because the only way to fix this now is resharpening the damage out. I will eventually do this after 3-4 full resharpenings anyway as part of that process.

The moral of the story? I am dumb, I can't wait for my G2 sheath! And even double spiral Damascus is no match for a coin! Oh and keep those Benza's away from coins!

I was less annoyed than I thought though... I guess as this was bought as an EDC knife, why worry? Nothing serious and CRK can fix all the marks at a later re-fit! The edge damage will vanish with use... so why worry? Its a sickener when it happens though...

Be careful out there!:p

Bummer man! That's kind of odd that happend. I've been carrying my Sebenza for 4 years with all of my pocket coins and other clutter and I don't have one scratch that couldn't be lightly buffed out of the Ti and the blade has no nicks or scraches at all. Maybe I'm just lucky but after 4 years I don't think so, they are just tough knives!!

Ouch! Sorry to hear that, as soon as my little Thumb mishap becomes one again, I'll get right on that sir!

In the mean time, only carry paper money for now...;)
Leave all of your coins as a tip...
