It's supposed to be dropping to -17C tomorrow. I'm going to head out and test some new gear and new theories. My cousin opted to come along and I'm trying to get KGD to go with us.... but he keeps avoiding all contact!!

Anyway, we'll be out all day Saturday and probably make a tarp tipi for the night. I'll try to take some pics if the camera doesn't freeze again.

Here's my gear list...

in a pack...
-9x16 tarp
-army poncho
-folding saw
-jute
-leather work gloves
-nalgene nested in a coffee can billy
-thermos
-3 garbage bags
-wool anorak
-food (spam 'yum', ramen noodles, coffee, tea, oatmeal, fruitbars)

on my person...
-knife (testing out the Bush-Ido)
-leatherman Wave
-Firepouch
-Zebra headlamp
-some pocket cordage

what I'm wearing...
-polypro thermals
-wool pants
-microfleece top
-wool blanketshirt
-fleece necktube
-wool watchcap
-wool socks
-safety glasses
-mechanic's gloves

Wish me luck... I'll post the outcome Sunday night.

Can't say I blame him...:p

Have fun, keep that camera close to your body and not in the pack and it should be fine.

have fun rick! bushido will scare the wood right off the trees! safe journeys!

sounds like a great time.....wheres the booze? :D

Sounds like it will be a great time ... hope you're able to convince Ken to get off his arse.

I am getting in the hadit of wearing safety glasses while in the bush... especially at night. Too many times have I caught a twig or chip in the eye. I have protective eyewear for my shop, yardwork, biking and snowboarding.... why should working in the woods be any different? I just started doing this in the last couple of years... I want to make it a habit.

Good News....................

Kgd is comming out for the day, Saturday! He can't stay the night, however.

Rick

I don't think I would even want to walk to my car if it was -17 outside! I look forward to hearing what what shenanigans you guys get into on your adventure. By the way, that Bush-Ido looks pretty cool.

I plan on making Rick jealous with my Mountainhouse instant PadThai.....Or maybe I'll trade him for some spam..NOT....(Hmm, PadThai for a Bushido, maybe we can work something out :D).....

Ha, I thought I was the only person on earth to do this! I have poked myself in the eye with dangerously stout branches/twigs/etc when walking at night. It would suck to have such a lame story behind having to wear an eye patch, too.

Pretty rad to do the overnight in your temps and weather, I'd love to see a ton of pics if you take a vid. Did you make the anorak yourself?
