I received a Branton\Brend model #2 from my Ups driver today. I have had knife lust over Walters Grinds for sometime. When I saw that Bobby Branton was doing a mid tech version, I spent some time starring at the ceiling thinking, buy this knife. Ive got an August trip to the woods of Arkansas scheduled and in September Im off to the Sierras. Its not like I needed an excuse, but a heavy, duty knife just seems like the thing.
Ive handled Walters Knifes and they are magic. I just dont want to beat a $1,000 + knife. I weighed my options, theres a couple knives out right now that fit this category, but decided to buy from Bobby.
Have you ever had the experience of having a 5.0 mustang convertible crush you into your seat? Pretty similar experience to handling this knife. It has a shipping weight of two pounds but in my hand Id never guess its two lb. of steel. Really great balance and feel. The finish is really good, to be sure its not the same as Walters knives but I paid 1/3 the cost.
I dont usually want to drive out to the desert and dismantle an ironwood tree. I might today though.
Thanks Bobby/Walter I cant say enough about this knife.
