yesterdays finds at the flea market. Not mcuh to look at but with only $4 spent, you can't complain. a 89OT (didn't have one of these yet), 34OT (getting about tired of finding these, begining to think they were more popular than the 8OT) an ulster barlow, and a queen muskrat that someone deicded to stick to the grinder. Anyway, I'm sure they'll clean up good. ?The old timers were rusted shut when I bought them, got them home and sprayed them full of hoppees and a little steel wool here and there got them to where they snap like new. Now for the questions: To sescale the 89 or not to rescale? Also, I never noticed how much longer the sheepsfoot blade is than the standard 8OT, is this normal, it's as large as the 858 blade!
anyway

Who was more excited, the seller for selling knives he thought was junk,or you for buying the gold mine for four bucks.I can't tell from the pic,are the blades on that 89 unsharpened. If they are I wouldn't rescale. If this is the only one you have clean it up,slick it up til you find one with the scales broke or cracked.
Dang it.tried to print the pics, printers out of ink.
Great find and for sure a great deal.

That's a Queen Winterbottom Muskrat, Man!:D

I thought so, but I didn't wanna sound like an idiot on the Schrade Forum:foot:

As you can tell it's one I don't have.:(

Did Shcrade ever use the Winterbottom Bone?

I know Queen is associated with it(at least for us oldtimers) but other companies did use that style of bone didn't they?

Winterbottom, if I remember right, was a bonehand, not a style, but his name stuck to this style? Not positive about this. Guys on a Queen Forum could likely tell you the whole story correctly.

EDIT: http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/bonehand.txt

Mr. Levine has an article posted about the Rogers and Winterbottom bone

they are indeed, unsharpened, there are some pretty bed pits in it, I'll leave it as is right now,

T. Erdelyi - I have an original Schrade USA PH2 with winterbottom handles. I think it was an "LTD" so I guess Schrade did use winterbottom on a few special projects...
Best Regards,
Kevin
