Does anyone know where I could get after-market dome lights for illuminating the inside of my camper van? I'd be especially interested in LED lights. (Surely someone makes them.) But any high quality interior lights would be good to know information about. Any leads will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hmm

None that i know of that come pre packaged, but if you got some trailer side marker lights, you could just use some 1156 bulbs in there an forget them.

If you screw them into a piece of metal they are grounded, so all you need is a hot wire running to them (Fused)

Shouldnt cost much at all, an might do the trick for you. :D

Try a RV supply center. They may have some nice 12v undercounter lights you like. One local locksmith outfitted his van with some, and they were bright in daylight.

Most of this stuff seems to be lite weight plastic. The better lights I've seen came out of late model vans and 4doors from the salvage yard. Chevy has a nice one that turns on when you tilt the lens to direct the light.

I remember seeing a set of frame lights for Rockcrawlers that are LED 12V. Photos showed lots of illumination. Not cheap. (I have got to learn how to post a link.)

Thanks to both of you for the info.

Not cheap isn't a problem. All you have to do to post a link in a bladeforums message is copy the link from the framelights for rockcrawlers address box, and paste it into the text of your bladeforums post. The software with handle the rest automatically. I'd really like to see that link.

Also, perhaps I need to be more clear: They don't have to be dome lights. I just need good illumination for the interior of my (windowless) camper van.

Thanks.

Dang 50 year old memory. Turns out the page was about installing halogen lights under the chassis for rock lights - and so was every other page I found that looked familiar.
Point being - lots of lawn tractor lights are used in this application, along with small driving lights in various wattages, all 12V, which does open up the possibilities.
But no LED's, which would run cooler than RV flourescents, even.

Dang 50 year old memory. Now I forget how to paste the website. Oh, yeah copy and paste. Easy.(Bwahahahah, I 've created a monster!)

http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/electrical/mp_rocklights01/ is where I thought I saw it. Oh well.

You can surf too much.

make your own LED lights. go to radioshack and buy as many LEDs as you need then calculate what voltage you need to drop them so you can buy the correct resistors. then just wire them up.

Yes yes yes. Candlepower forums can give you good data on how to do that. Be careful, tho, you will find another hobby to spend cubic dollars on!
