Ive been interested in purchasing the dominator, but Ive heard alot of mixed comments. Can anbyone tell me, have the bugs/problems been resolved with these? Or are they still a problem?

wow...all these negative things (threads) said about the blade having wobblle problems....hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I bought a Dominator within the last couple of months and it was perfect- no blade wobble, strong opening, solid lockup, blade centered in the frame when closed. Maybe their production process or QA has improved over time?

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of recent manufacture.

Even the early production ones were pretty good. I didn't have any serious out-of-the-box problems with mine. Smooth and well finished, no play, solid lock.

But let's just say, don't try replacing the stock washers with phosphor bronze ones though... they don't fit.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments. Ive been wanting one since they came out, but have been hesitant to pay yhte money for one. When I read the negative threads it really made me wonder if it was a good idea to purchase one.

Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!! :)

Mine's PERFECT too,
and I love it. St. James did have a faulty early one,
but sometime that (unfortunetly) happens.
that's why I NEVER buy a knife on the first run.

My Dominator was perfect right out of the box. Fit, finish, everything was just as I expected.

I just received my Heat last week and I've got to say, this is one sweet knife, too. It's made in Taiwan for Camillus, but the workmanship on mine is flawless. While the blade on the Heat is AUS-8 and the handle is nylon, the washers appear to be bronze, the robo-action is strong, and the pocket clip is reversible for lefties. It even includes the tool for switching the pocket clip!

While I love my Dominator, I'll probably carry and use the Heat a lot more.

Mine was tight when new but now has a heck of a wobble. I was thinking of going with the bronze bushings. Seems that's not a good idea. Anyone have any other ideas?

:D

First of all, I don't much listen to the negatives about knives, trucks or dogs. Those are usually in the minority on all accounts. When a person gets a bad product he/she is more likely to complain. Those getting exactly what they want are more likely to just enjoy it.

That being said, I finally got me a Dominator. This is my second one, the first one was the AG Russel non-assisted. The non-assisted was perfect in every way. Blade lock, smooth and centered. The new one is the regular assisted and dang it, this one is just as good, if not better. It is a Hell of a lot more fun just to play with because of the assisted opening. The fit and finish are beyond reproach. Solid as my Sebenza (yea I know this will get some dander up). I even like the blade profile on the Dominator better than the Sebenza. It is just must better looking and cuts exactly the same.

If Camillus had problems at one time, they sure seem to have jumped on them and fixed them right up.

If you want one, by gosh get it, enjoy it and play with it. Nothing like a Dominator in my book. And you know that little black pouch they send with it ain't too shabby either.

The Dominator is a wonderful knife. All around fun, nice looking and tough as nails. Camillus is #1 in my book.

Just to let you know of Camillus durability, I have my first cousin's Viet Nam knife that he carried on two tours. It was given to me when I was 12. I am now 41 (Good Lord how time flys). As a kid, that knife never left my side. And I was hard on it. I will soon pass it on to my son and I am sure he will be as gentle as I was... :D

So don't let any negatives keep you from buying a Dominator. It will be a great hierloom to pass to you son or daughter. Hell, your grandchildren will enjoy it and have something from Grandpa.

Remember, life is too short to worry about a knife. Buy it and enjoy it while your can. Live life like you are dying and smile.

Maybe the single best production knife of all time - opinion only, of course. There's a few other great ones as well. I think I'll oil mine up after a day at the beach.
