Domino from Amazon

Okay, so here's the story.

I purchase a Domino from Amazon for a reasonable price ($162). I list the price because I want to evidence that it wasn't one of those screaming deals that are too good to be true.

Anywho, When I got the blade, the Spyderco logo is "raised". All of my other Spydies have smooth logos. This is the only one that I own that was made in Taichung, however.

I called Amazon and they assured me that they sourced it directly from Spyderco. The Seller on the auction was Spydeco. I emailed Spyderco and asked about that, and was told that I would need to mail it in to get verification.

My question to you all is does anyone else have one of these? Is the logo "raised" (as in tactile, not smooth, etc.) Am I just over-thinking this? Has anyone gotten fakes from Amazon?

Thanks in advance, guys!

The Taichung logo has more texture to it. Take a look at it under magnification, it is rather pretty in and of itself.

Exactly. If you look at it with a magnifier, it should look almost like a fingerprint in the shape of the Spyderco "bug". Doubt any counterfeiter copies that texture. And please, in the future, buy from dealers you trust rather than shooting for the lowest possible price then agonizing over the knife's authenticity.

I got my Domino from Amazon. It is legit. I have bought Spyderco knives from Amazon before and they are always legit IF it is directly from Amazon and not a third party.

I appreciate succinct advice, and will remember that going forward.

Thanks, guys. I do have a tendency to over-think things.

If it was fulfilled by Amazon, then I have no doubt it's a genuine item. A huge majority of their merchandise if sourced by Amazon from distributors and manufacturers. Third party sellers will often then buy some of that stock, and resell it, it being still fulfilled by Amazon's warehouses.

If it was sold and fulfilled by a third party, it still is probably ok.

My Domino is similar to what you've explained. Almost like to come a point in the middle. I think it looks very nice…

He didn't. He bought it from Amazon. If Amazon is the seller, its as credible as it gets.

Unless somebody with a fake returns it through Amazon and keeps the legitimate item.

Thats the same as any other vendor. Can't imagine it happening too often though.

That is true although do you think Amazon inspects and/or could spot a fake?

The only gold standard with Amazon is *sold* and *fulfilled* by Amazon. Sold by a third party and fulfilled by Amazon doesn't provide the same level of assurance.

Thats why I said "seller". I don't trust third party sellers.

Not that you need another, but I'll join the choir. I've bought two Spydies from Amazon, both legit and both the best deals I can find. I'll shop there first for most things.

All knives I've bought directly from amazon prime have been authentic. No problems with amazon if buying directly from amazon. They aren't riddled with fakes like certain other auction sites.
