I love Don's scary tacs. That one with the amber colored flame material.............WOW is about all I can think of.

Great images.

So startlingly precise, these images of such absolutely gorgeous pieces scream out "artist, artist", both with respect to maker and photographer, IMHO.

Caleb, Great photos!

Don, Great knives!

Bob, It's great to see you collecting Damascus!

Jim,

The first time I was attracted to any Damascus pattern was years ago, a Devin Thomas raindrop pattern. Since then, I've still generally not cared for most Damascus. But over time, there have been many very "special" pieces that have called to me enough that I seldom to never make the "I don't care for Damascus" remarks of the past.

As we discussed this particular order, Don never told me and I never asked for or about any specific blade pattern. I knew his eye would come up with the perfect match to bring all the elements together. Pure serendipity that he decided on raindrop, my favorite. And what a result, to my eye the finest, most chatoyant raindrop I've ever seen.

ps: I call it raindrop, but as Kevin pointed out in another post somewhere, it's a pattern type that has been characterized using several names, but for me, raindrop stuck.

Looks so great. I love the Amber-colored Premium Natural Material! ;) Awesome pictures as always. :)

Wow! If that doesn't give you a Clack Attack, nothing will!!!

Don's Scary Tacs are, well....Scary! Scary bolsters, scary design, scary talent.

Two amazing pieces, Bob. :thumbup::thumbup:

Outstanding photography, Caleb.

Incredible images of incredible knives. At first I thought I liked the shell handled one best but now not too sure as both amazing. Great images Caleb.

Jon and Kevin,

I understand the difficulty in determining a favorite between the two pieces.

Part of the exercise in deciding on the elements of each folder was to make it difficult if not impossible for me to become more attached to one over the other - to prevent me from ever wanting to split them up. The compound grind on the mammoth piece serves as one element that sets that piece apart. The amber-toned scales on the other piece work toward a similar purpose. And then tying both pieces together with the same blade material, well, it all works to make it as difficult as possible, at least for me, to have a favorite.

Bob

ps: And Caleb's superb imaging didn't make it any easier for me, either, thankfully.

Caleb:
Your choice of background, composition and lighting are flawless. The amber scales look as if they are about to burst into flames. The mammouth scales, single frame of multiple knife positions, seem to shine a light eminating from one to the other. A beautiful expression of such fine crafted knives.
BoB: My friend I hope you get years of pleasure from Don's creations as well as form the artful photographic expression of them.

What he said: "Wonderful knife ! Very beautiful!"

This really is a bit of an overload for my eye candy taste buds.. "Wow!" .. is just about all I can think of saying. I really love them both, that new blade model is another winner, Don! I would love to see first hand the chatoyance on those raindrop damascus blades, they look so perfectly patterned! I would have a hell of a time chosing between the two, good thing you scored them both, Bob! ;)

As always Caleb, you have sych a great eye and are very talented at making knives come to life in a photo, thanks for sharing! :)
