I got this little goody from Don last week and it has become one of my all time favorites. I took this to the Solvang show last week and I had to give it a good cleaning after everybody drooled on it.
You may have seen my post on STeve's stag thread. Well, I listed died Amber Stag as my least favorite. Let me tell you, if it was all like this I'd change my mind.
Don, I can't thank you enough for the fine job you did on this. Also, thanks to John Hanlon, Knife Legends, for helping me out. Both of you are the best!
I believe this is the first 48 pattern with a shield and, along with the swedge, it really makes the knife.

Win, That sure is a beauty. I hope you will put it in your pocket and use it. The stag is really nice and I must say adding the shield really makes the knife look better. I told you so, Don.

Congrats on that one Win
I(in my pocket actually!) have a Slim in Ivory with rose Gold pins...The Shield is a first i believe for Dons Version of this Pattern and it Sets off that piece beautifully!

Thanks Win, I'm glad you like it and thanks to John for getting us together.
I also appreciate all the comments from you fine folks here :D

Note enough coloring in that stag, and not enough length and clip in that blade....

...right. :p :D

Excellent!

Hi Win ,that is a nice knife.Amber stag can be really gorgeous. This one is very nice.I like the stag left without any shield/escutcheon.Stag should be seen in all of its beauty.Shields/escutcheons/inlays are best on wood handled knives.Should be used in Sambar stag only to hide defects.Again, this is my opinion only :foot: :D .

What a sweet little knife. It's not hard to understand why you're so pleased.

Roger

Very nice! I think this one takes the classic lines to a new level.

Don, your work is really beautiful.

Thanks for showing us Win.

Yep, Don makes knives that ROCK :)
Congratulations on your folder, it looks well made and classy
A slip joint from him is on top of my list for a next buy.
