Hi Lee, Welcome to the Forums.

Don was a Custom Maker that started in the late 60's but like most Makers did not gane much reknown until the late 70's. In the early 80's he took quite a while off due to Heart trouble. Throughout the 80's he was really coming out with some great stuff. He made Working / Hunting knives mostly but did some Bowies, Daggers and Axes (though I have only seen his straight knives).

He was known for his complex Handle work (both of ergonomics/contouring and different yet complimentary handle material assembly). He marked his knives "ZACK" with his City and State in an Oval.

His Sheaths were Leather, very tough and well thought out to hold the knife. I have two of his knives (Stag) and I love owning them (never used one though).

I think Don's Son (Don Jr) made knives similiar to his Dad's for a few years (Mid 90's I think) but I have never seen one made by him (though I would like to).

I don't know what year Don Sr passed away but I know alot of old time collectors still remember his work and really appreciate his designs and execution.
