Donating knives to the troops

In my unfulfilled quest to find the perfect knife I've collected quite a few that I would like to donate to military personnel stationed overseas. No junk (Kabar, SOG, Becker, etc.), all boxed in new condition. Does anyone know to whom and where I could ship them? Any restrictions on size or type? Being a Marine brat growing up in Oceanside I would like to ship to them but any of the services would be fine.
Thanks,
SKH

Dunno any answers to your question, but I will give a hearty "KUDOS" to you for doing such a deed! I just started knife collecting and just got my first real tactical knife (Cold Steel SRK), but your deed has got me thinking I should buy another and donate it as well.

AG Russell has been running simiar kinds of things, you might want to give them a call.

You can also adopt a soldier as well. I am sure that you can do a google search and find any of the information you need. As for shipping knives over here, it's no problem at all. I had my wife send me 2 knives via USPS and had no problem at all with customs.

Some troops are told to keep their knives in the locker and can't even carry/use them at all. Maybe check with where you're sending them make sure everything will be OK.

We can ship your knives to Iraq or Afghanistan in January. We would include your name and if you like your address with each knife. We have shipped over 7,000 packages with a pocket knife, field tweezers, band-aids, a paperback book and a couple of magazines and a copy of the Declaration of Independance and Constitution (shirt pocket size)

take a look at the site we are building http://warontroopboredom.org

We have shipped our own knives and have gotten 2,000 superknives and over 1,000 tacticals from Frost and hundreds from SOG and 100 from Ka-Bar

I can think of nothing better to do for a soldier than send him or her a knife. I would'nt be too worried about the soldier not being able to carry the knife with them. We can do pretty much what we want over here, however the stay in the rear types may have some restrictions to keep them from huring themselves ;) . I would suggest that you seek out a guard or reserve unit in your area that is deploying and give out your knives in person. Its a great way to meet some outstanding people and let them know people in their own community give a darn. We had some people do that before we left for Iraq and it ment a lot to the troops. And thanks for careing enough about soldiers to part with some of your knives.
