I have had a Dominator for about two weeks now. When "out of the box" new it was not at all pleasant or reliable to open. The Robo system was very stiff and would often leave the blade with the flipper just under the edge of the scales and not deployed. Now, after many, many blade deployments I am still having the same problems. Also, lateral and vertical play has developed between the blade and the scales when the blade is deployed. There is enough that when shaken the knife actually rattles. I can temporarily liminate the lateral movement by tightening the pivot screw until snug, but after a few openings is becomes loose again. I have to manually push the liner lock inward much harder to eliminate the vertical movement. Also, the blade is less than the width of cheap paper from touching the scale opposite the lock.
As all here would expect, Camillus is willing to send me a new knife to replace this one. They have wonderful customer service. My concern is that the knife is not defective and I am just expecting too much. I am particularly concerned with the opening issue. If it is problematic and uncomfortable to deploy the blade when I am concentrating on doing it, I don't feel confident relying on the knife as a defensive tool.
Are you guys having any of the same issues that I am having? If you are, have you found solutions? Adjustments, repairs, etc?
