Donna is the wife of an old friend of mine, Carl. A few years ago, They bought some land in Texas where they have settled after Carl's USAF retirement. They love to hunt togther on their property, and Donna has become quite the huntress according to Carl. He asked me to make her a knife for Christmas, and according to his specs. Now mind you, Donna is a little gal. I mean she's tiny... not sure exactly how tall, but let's say she's five feet or less. Consequently, with the pixie-petiteness comes small hands and that kind of presented a challenge to me as well.
So I present to you a drop-point hunter that is made for a little lady, and strong enough to withstand the harsh Texas chapparal.
Blade: O-1
Handle: Tan Micarta
Guard, pins and thong hole liner: s/s
Sheath: Cowhide
Blade Length: 3.5" from hilt to tip.
Handle length: 3.25" from guard to pommel
Thong is buffalo, and bead is from scrap Mammoth.
My first sheath! Over six years of fooling around with knives, and never made one single sheath. This one leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm sort of proud I actually pulled it off.
Oh yeah... Capt. Nemo says he wants some credit in this post for "loaning" me his neoprene doggie vest!
Thanks for looking!
