I have a buddy at work who loves handling my folders. He's always been a "Walmart special" kind of guy, so anything $100+ really caught his attention. 2 weeks ago, he said "Ok, I want a good folder for myself. What would be a good choice under $200 for every day use, and skinning/gutting a deer? I told him he couldn't go wrong with a ZT 0562 (that slicer grind!). He sent me a pic last night, and I wanted to share it with anyone who was interested. The knife surprisingly held up beautifully. He blew all the remains out with compressed air and applied some oil. The knife looked good as new when he brought it in today! Anyone else have a different folder they use for this? Id love to hear what everyone thinks!

Very interesting but i thought the bearings would trap all the gunk and blood?

He said he blew it out with compressed air and used some rem oil. Looked and functioned like brand new this morning. Edge held up with zero nicks or rolls. (I had told him to try and stay away from bone.)

A dear? I thought you killed a loved one!

I've always thought that KVT (and other captive bearing systems) could stand up to way more grit and gunk than it's given credit for.

Easier to get in, easier to get out I always say.

I clicked because I couldn't resist. I am glad the pic. needs to be enlarged which I would do if I stayed any longer...so...I am leaving!

Always wanted to be a Vet, but this is why it would have never worked out!

Same here. I used to own a 562 and i loved it, but i could never bring myself to dirty it up because i was affraid of crap getting lodged in there. Thanks to Rob, (my friend) i now have full confidence in the bearing systems.
