Don't Do This

at least he didnt lose anything worth anything.maybe he should thank them for getting rid of the trash in his luggage.

I was hoping to at least see a Buck in there....

Jeeze...that man has a sorrier collection than the guys at the flea market by me.

The funny thing is, is that when I was traveling I needed to lighten my suit case because it was too heavy. I pulled my toiletries out of my suit case and put the bag in my carry-on. I had my wife rushing me and without thinking I had all of my Buck knives that I just bought from SMKW in there. The TSA agent saw something and checked my bag. She found them and was kind enough to allow me to go back and check the bag. No Problem, No ticket, No arrest. Funny how things are a big deal in some states and nothing in others. The best part is that the TSA agent was so concerned with my bag that the X-ray agent missed a knife in my wifes bag.

Wow, MB......that could have turned out differently with a little bad luck.

Pre 9-11, pre TSA I was travelling from Boston to Charlotte, with a stop each way at Dulles. In Boston, I got through security fine. At Dulles, I had to go back through X-Ray...and in my carry on they saw something that looked like a knife. They searched the bag, repeatedly, including the supervisor of the person who saw the knife. They found nothing, and let me through. At the hotel in Charlotte, on unpacking the bag I found my Buck 102, left in there from a canoe trip the week before. I mailed it back home from Charlotte so I wouldn't have to get it through security, though back in those days it probably would have been fine on my belt. Even back then I was glad I didn't get arrested.

The article states that he was carrying twelve switchblades and a butterfly knife, but a lot of the "switchblades" just look like regular one-handed pocket knives (spring assisted, maybe) to me...

I'm afraid I can't comment on this story without blowing up all "political". To each his own, but I really don't care for his taste in knives. I'm just an old guy I guess. I can't think of anywhere I want to go anymore that would require me to fly.

If there is small/large mouth bass fishing, I will fly, ride, glide, run, skip, walk, to get there. If I accidently take a knife with me, so be it. It will be a Buck.

Good point on the bass fishin', however being from central Florida, I can't swing a lure without hitting a lake or pond. But since you brought it up, I can't walk a mountain without at least a 9-12 hour drive!
