Don't find myself carrying often..

I got a carbon fiber sebenza a year ago almost exactly. I've had a few issues with the pocket clip screw stripping. First time I was just taking the clip off to see how it would feel without it. The hole in the clip is slightly off from the one in the handle. Stripped. Got it replaced. Went to New Jersey literally just after replacing it and my girlfriend sat between me and my cousin on a couch. She went to get up, clip got stuck to her belt or something and pulled the clip out. Try as I might I couldn't get the screw out unstripped. Got home and got another two screws. It's been fine since. I have an issue with the knife dirtying. It dirtied once and I don't want to keep having to clean grit out of the pivot to stop damage to my knife. Also, I don't know if this is me or not, but the detent ball feels a bit scratchy halfway open. After being cleaned and lubed Its smooth, but after a few carries it feels not gritty, but just not fluid. I don't know how to describe it. I don't want to keep taking the knife apart and cleaning it, as easy as it is. So it hasn't been carried too much. Shame too, I like the knife. Not saying it won't be carried, but I carry my indestructible benchmade griptilian because I know I can just hose it down with hot water. I'm afraid to run my sebenza dry, I run the grippy dry.

You can run it dry or lubed. Your not gonna hurt it.

Keep carrying it and clean it when it needs it. Sounds like it hasn't been broken in yet.

After a few months of the above the knife will smooth right out.

Per CRK for most people's uses, the sebenza only needs to be cleaned and lubed once a year. If it gets dirty, wash it in soap and water and blow dry, like your hair :)

 Use that thing already, I mean put it in your pocket everyday:thumbup: find stuff to cut, dull it and then sharpen it!! Sh#$ you can always send it to the spa but the wear marks just add beauty imo. CF is tough stuff also.

Only time I've ever cleaned out a Sebbie was before I went to sell it. OK, if I'm using it to cut sod or saplings, I'll clean off the blade. I clean packing glue off if I cut open a box or envelope or something. Yep, that about covers it. You're doing it wrong. Use it more, even when you don't need to use it. ;)

I've recently upgraded my lube experience by switching to Frog lube. Initially I bought it for a couple firearms, but after I used it, I thought I'd give it a try on my Seb and other folders. Basically, you clean off the knife with denatured alcohol (or rubbing) to degrease the parts. Then you heat up all the metal parts with a hair dryer, then swab on the Frog Lube. Let it cool, then wipe it down with a micro cloth. So, when you re assemble all your parts, they are "dry". My knife has been working awesome, and seems to collect less lint than before.

What about the non fluid feeling of the detent ball? After I grease its smooth, but then gets that skipping feeling. Is it needing breaking in do you think?

Well, all I know is the more you use any folding knife, the better the action gets. My large Regular is like butter, but I've been carrying it for at least 10 years. I'm pretty sure it wasn't "like butta" when I bought it new.

I'd love the idea of having that one knife. I heard a lot of people clean their knives once or twice a year. How much can get into the pivot? I will mainly be using it in the house or woods. No dirt really. How have they held up
In that 10 years? Any damage? Did you use it hard?

My newer Insingos are not nearly as smooth as my 2005 large Classic. Just like a nice first growth Bordeaux, Sebenzas get better with age.
