I would like to make this announcement as a service to all who may one day be as foolish as me. I know this should fall under the common sense category, which at one time I believed I possessed, but nontheless, I will continue in the hope that others will not stumble upon the path on which I have faltered.
If the action on your brand new folder seems "gunky" - try loosening the pivot screw!
I know. I've done it a thousand times, but after receiving my BM 910HS in the mailbox the other day, I opened it once, then immediately put a drop of Outers into the action. Later in the day I popped it open and decided that it must have somehow gotten clogged when the oil mixed with dust. After an hour of research, half a bottle of dish soap, half a can of WD-40, some chlorine-free brake cleaner, a quarter of a bottle of gun oil, and about an hour total combined time spent twizzling a hair dryer in front of my knife, the idea came to me just to loosen the pivot screw.
Anyway, the action is smooth like butter now and I'm happy.
