Got few knives from spyderco and am not sure, to polish the edge or not, I like toothy agressive edges...and how they perform!S30V with factory edge performs excellent with that toothy edge....all input welcome....I want to slice not push cut!!!looking for real world performance!

600 mesh diamond... Strop if you like. Bare leather, 2micron silicon carbide, or 6 micron diamond, any of the three work great to finish without taking away the aggressive bite of the edge.

I have a belt sander , and also Norton medium and fine india stone along with strop with green compund.I find that green compound is too fine and while they look very shiny after polishing they lose bite............I was going to convex my Military in s30v but just reprofiled it little on belt sander with a platen.......so it can be sharpened on stones easier!

600 grit is nice. For a toothy edge, I finish at 600 grit Moldmaster and strop with a 14 micron diamond paste. I have a 28 micron paste on the way. I wanna see how that works.

boki_zca, go with a convex edge and use a 400 grit belt and strop with white medium grit compound.

How toothy are we talking about? I've used knives off a Norton Coarse India, DMT Coarse (blue), and recently straight off the green King 250 grit waterstone. My belt sander applied edges are usually done with a VERY worn 180 grit belt, then stropped with the Surgisharp leather on the belt sander. I'm getting ready to change to 320 grit, new belts. The 180 belt lasted 5 years.

White won't be much different than green compound. There is only about 3-5 microns of abrasive size difference between the two.

If you want a edge like factory then spyderco uses 120 grit belts and finishing with a de-burring wheel.
