Warning, grinding while on a suger high may lead to very, shall we say, interesting knives.

I made the mistake of eating a whole box of Godiva chocolate covered cherries and then going out to work. When I woke from my suger comma this morning, this was what I found.

It is a 15" OAL recurved, split bladed dagger with a tapered tang.

Not really:p , well I did eat the chocolate and I did grind the monster dagger from hell but it was planned. I wanted to try and test my grinding skills by putting some of the hardest (for me at least) features onto one knife. Now mind you, I have never ground a recurved blade and I have never ground a dagger this large.

So whats ya think?

Nice. I haven't done a dagger yet but am putting some designs to paper and hope mine comes out 1/2 as nice. Did you cut the split before or after grinding?

damascus, DAMASCUS, did someone say DAMASCUS!

I got your damascus right here. 7 bar pattern welded by Eggerling. Gonna be a sweet dagger, kinda makes me think of the old Applegate style.

Man, I can't wait to see that finished, looks like I need to invest in some Godiva chocolate covered cherries!:p

WOW !!!! That is about all I can say at the moment. My eyes are to crossed from such a nice pair of pieces.I can't wait to see the finished knives.

That blade gives me a headache just looking at it:-) I am sure that would be considered a High Capacity Assault knife here in Kalifornication..
You might need to get it registered..HAHA!!
Nice work bud, I need to get back over to your place soon, I want to mess around with some Jap Wrap handles... Talk at ya soon..

Take Care

Doesn't matter to me which way you do it they both look great ,even the one that's split down the center. Beautiful work Mr. Clark!! Frank Niro.

The slot was cut with a mill before grinding. If I had to do it again I would have cut it after. With the slot cut the blades kept wanting to flex in a scissor action while grinding. It was a real pain.

Hear is a photo of the finished damascus dagger.
Enjoy!

That fuller is waaaaay too deep! Next time, don't hit the fullering tool so hard! Those chocolate covered cherries do it every time :)

(Nice work by the way...)
