Well unless you are cleverer than me. I have not long gotten a brand new Leek with the cpmd2 edge, fine little knife and was enjoying it. I went out to sharpen the edge and thought I'd put a few drops of wd40 on the pivot just for good measure, it was already smooth and slick. Anyway as soon as put the oil on the pivot became kind of sticky and the flipper wouldn't pop it open anymore. So I stripped it down which was pretty fiddly, cleaned all the oil off and re-assembled it, only now the spring rattles.
Bah! why do I have to meddle with stuff?
Anyone else have this issue or know how to stop the spring from rattling?

The spring will rattle unless there's some grease in there to keep it from moving around. It's totally normal. If it really bothers you, pull it back apart and put a little bit of grease on the spring.

WD40 is not a lubricant, it's a solvent. It is really not ideal for knife lubrication. I use rem oil on knives that I don't do any kind of food prep with, as it is toxic. Mineral oil works well if you plan on eating or doing food preparation with your knife.

Yup, nothing to be worried about. Its a super easy fix. Wd40 is not a lubricant, it is a solvent and it is meant for water displacement (hence the wd in the name). Wd40 is fine to use after cleaning to displace water in the pivot area but some sort of lube will need to be used after the wd40. As for the rattle, its just the torsion bar. From the factory there is some thick grease in the cavity in which the torsion bar rides. Just put a dab of grease (grease, not oil, it needs to be thick, I've actually used vaseline in mine) in that cavity and the rattle will stop.

Sorted guys thanks. I put some grease in the little torsion bar pocket, which also helped it run a bit smoother, and some sewing machine oil on the pivot all is well.
