I'm sure you guys already know this but buy the best you can afford when it comes to cutting tools. A guy came by the shop with his hunting knife for me to sharpen. It was a Winchester brand hunting knife w/gut hook. He tried to split the pelvic bone on a deer and a third of the edge up about an 1/8" looked like a piece of bacon. I was unable to fix that but was able to put a razor edge on it. I explained to him about the importance of quality steel along with HT and geometry. He's going to be getting a Gossman knife in the near future.
