A neighbor's cat was coming around a few weeks ago when we'd leave the front door open since it was right opposite the swamp cooler. One day, the wife was bathing, came out and dressed, I was in one of the back bedrooms on the computer, and the kid was sitting in front of the TV. Then I went into our bedroom, flipped on the light and heard this rumbling and scrambling down the hall like a spooked herd of elephants, turned, and saw a tail disappear toward the front door.
My wife did identify it as it went out the door and scared another cat into jumping away from the food dish. I don't think it was so much scared as embarrassed and indignant that it got caught.
So tonight I step out the door and the cat starts a mad dash to the bush on the other side of the front door. Needless to say, I'm in between it and cover, so it decides to make a high speed turn down the driveway. The cat learns that driveway concrete does not provide as much traction as carpet. I know this because I can hear the thump as cat fails to negotiate the turn and slides sideways into the chain link fence. And keeps going!
Needless to say the cat hadn't gotten around to forgiving me for it's loss of dignity the first time, let alone this time.
RINGTAILED TOM
I got an old tomcat
And when he steps out,
All the other cats
In the neighborhood,
They begin to shout.
There goes a ring-tailed tom.
Stepping round the town,
And if you got your heat turned up
You better turn your damper down.
Ring-tailed tom on the fence
Other pussycats on the ground,
He don't let no other tomcats
Come pussyfooting around.
There goes a ring-tailed tom
Struttin' round the town,
And if you got your heat turned up
You better turn your damper down.
( And he sure do practice a lot! )
ROTFLMAO!
