Here is something that I have been wanting to try for awhile now. This is a "small-ish" Bowie ...7" blade made forged out of a piece of Ancient Arms Damascus that I have had in my shop. I wanted the blade etched with "Don't Tread" which I did with Chartpak dry transfer letters before the ferric chloride etch.

The handle is a small taper of Sambar and the guard and pommel are copper/brass mokume.

The handle is small but it makes a great concealment knife.

Nice work. I like that, handle looks good, and good lines to it.

Now, can I get one gold plated that says "step off Biatch!" ;)

Great knife, fluid lines.

How are you preping the blade before applying the lettering? Fully polished or ??? That lettering is very clean looking.

Thanks,
Dave

That's a great piece of work Greg. The etch sets it off very well and the letter point size looks very fitting to me. Well balanced design. On a production knife your lettering would be too close to the edge to remain uncut after many sharpenings. Your knives are, I am sure, too persistant for that to be a problem. I like.

Dave....I hand sanded the blade down to 400 grit and then cleaned the blade with acetone before I applied the letters. I think I will try this on a 1084 blade sometime.

very nice Greg, I see some JMS influence there, eh?

Yes you do Anthony !!

Initially I was thinking along the lines of Brother Bag...a little of Bartrug too....then JMS appears!

Hey Matt....that might take at least a 10" blade......isn't the correct spelling "beotch"?
