Don't want to use 'em, just look at 'em

I've always had a fascination with khukuris since I first saw one hanging in a pub in England. I would like to get a few for display, not use. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't just get one to display. I think you will find that you will appreciate the khukuri more if you actually use one. It doesn't have to be for any useful purpose just cut some dead tree or branches in the woods.

But if your heart is set on just displaying them then whatever blade shape pleases your eye would be suitable. Check out the HI website and the Khukuri FAQ for pictures and the like.

By the way, welcome to the forums. :)

, which has the additional advantage of being able to chop through mild steel or seasoned hardwood if you fall on hard times:D

Welcome to the forum Bobrap!!!! Pull up a chair and set a spell. You will soone find yourself among the rest of the collector's and or users.:)

And the Kothimoda is no doubt the prettiest work knife ever devised with perhaps the YCS mounted in silver a close second. :)

Even for display, I would not be happy with less than the best.
As you mention the Brits, before they lost them, I`d bet a good many Purdy`s, H&H`s,Westly Richards and Greener`s were doing wall duty as habitat shrunk and access and skills became out of reach for all but the very rich and connected.
If they obeyed the last law, these obects `de art were turned into soup cans.
None the less, they represented a once Great Britan.
Sounds just foolish now, doesn`t it.
I must think that everyone sniggers at the title that has been gone for a century.
I know Europe is amused at the car licence GB.
I suppose that we too will fall, in our time.
Quite possibly to the level that HM`s subjects enjoy.

BERK,
Only you Koz,THAT NDN,Blues & maybe Wal would have both of those K's!:D Your YCS looks exactly like mine, its the "only"one I refuse to use!

Tsimi you are loseing the opportunity to have the satisfaction of using a really beautiful blade for a mundane task.
A couple of my YCS's look just like that one as well, except one has a horn handle. The very first one and perhaps only one to ever have a horn handle.:)
My using YCS has began to develop a real nice patina on its silver and wood even with the small amount of use it gets a little on the steel parts as well.
Give it another 10 years at this rate and it will have a beautiful character all of its very own.:)

I think maybe you'd need a smaller khuk for that purpose.:D After all, an 18" AK would probably be too clumsy and mess up the brain.:p

Maybe we should design a special Char-broiled Squirrel Brain Serving khukuri?;)

Which khukuri do you use to dig the brains out of a charbroiled squirrel's head?

I understand Walosi's trouble in attributing the word "normal" to this forum. And I now understand where this weirdness originates;) :p :D

But thank God its like it is or I wouldn't feel comfortable here either:D

The Squirrel Brain Digger Khukuri -- UBSBD Special. I'll bet it would sell a million copies.

We are not crazy, Rob -- only misunderstood.

That seems perfectly nrmgl....nmurl..OK for a squirrel brain scooper...not the brass ones, of course

Nope, the KK would be too small. You can't get any leverage on that little handle, either. ;) Remember, them squirrel heads can be pretty tough.:p

You don't need a smaller khukuri, you just need to have a better aim with a big one.
