Don't wear your glasses on top of your head

Don't wear your glasses on top of your head. I did that this afternoon while burning brush. Next thing I know I'm flinging a piece of brush overhead and there go my glasses, into the inferno. I didn't mind losing the lenses, because they were getting scratchy - but the frames were worth money.
Last time I did this was trout fishing. Again, wearing the glasses on top of my head in the cool-guy tiara fashion. Bent over to fix a hook, there go the glasses into a fast moving river. I'm immediately down on all fours, scrambling for a pair of glasses with translucent slate gray frames on a rocky bottom river. Waste of time, there went $160.
Anybody else want to share wasted gear because of stupid mistakes, or am I the only one :))

I lost a few pairs of shades on the golf course. Either took them off and hung it off the side of my bag and forgot about it or maybe was on my hat, which I forgot about then took off my hat to cool off my head. I still want to try out those shaded contacts.

Get a Frogskin!

The strap will keep you from losing your glasses in all kinds of situations.

Not lost, but ... my brother came into the living room one evening asking if anyone had seen his glasses. He'd looked for them everywhere.

They were pushed up on top of his head. :)

I've done that at least once. The worst is, if you've been wearing your glasses like that for a while, and then take them off, it still feels like you're wearing them!

Esav, I've gone around my shop looking for a hammer. Eventually I found it, in my hand. My doctor tells me I've got CRS.

I lost two fishing rods .. I took my gf carp fishing just to let her catch a big fish ... I baited the hook and cast out the line ... I layed the rod down to give my gf a few kisses and puff ! My rod shoots in the river like a rocket ... So that got me a little mad ... I went back the next day with another rod and my gf ... and guess what ... i layed the rod down to light up a smoke and puff! another rod and reel never to be seen again ! They are fun to catch but never lay yur rod down ... Two rod and reels in two days gone :(

I wouldn't mind forgetting but when I get up to get something, get there, and forget what it was I got up to get, I usually grab my hat and go out for some fresh air! :D

Then I have to go back inside because I forgot my cane or my wallet or my keys ... :(

Brand new sunglasses - I bought them that morning. Put them up on top of my head as I was hurrying into our cellar through the low doorway at the back of the house. Smacked into the lintel and gouged the crap out of the lens. At least it saved my head from damage.

Daniel, a frogskin sounds like some kind of condo. I always take my glasses off and put them safely away in those kinds of situations :))

Had my last pair of sunglasses on top of my head when I was walking through a low doorway. Smashed my head and glasses. They were ruined. Stupid stupid stupid!

BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Man, you must have REALLY pissed off the fishing gods at some point in your life. If this happens a third time to you, ya better not let us know!;) :D

I wear my glasses 100% time. Astigmatism. I don't understand the on top of your head thing. Glasses are expensive, not wearing them? Then on the nightstand or in the case as I transition to sunglasses.

And on the top of the head make you look like a dork or like the Rev. Gene Scott. If you have hair the lenses can get greased up from hair oil.

Its the expensive mistakes you should only make once, unless you have too much cash.:D

I like cat straps.

the condition is called "Middle aged eyes" or presbyopia, the lenses in your eyes get less flexible. Glasses, especially glasses for distance impede ability to do things like read, Your close up vision suffers while wearing them.

I tend to wear my specs all the time with the only exceptions being while sleeping, showering, or swimming.

Reduces lost glasses by a large margin.

pcnorton, I understand what you're saying but I only wear my glasses for distance viewing, like driving or watching a movie...or looking for wildlife when I'm outside building a fire. For up close work, I push them on top of my head. Obviously a bad idea, since I've lost two pair that way. They are not bifocals, otherwise the loss would have been greater.
Here's the good news. I went back out the next day with my prescription sun glasses and I found the ones that went missing, right next to the fire pile. The lenses are crispy critters but I think the frames are a salvageable. I wish I knew how to post pictures here, they're really worth looking at.

Yeah! Those are the same as "frogskins"-they are great for sunglasses and glasses. I always use them around water and I used to always use them in helicopters.

Too much money to replace Oakleys or prescription glasses!

I agree with what you're saying about neck suspension. If I was out on the water, as I often am, I would have neck suspension or have them on my face, the better of the two. In this case, I was simply out in my backyard doing an everyday chore. My point is that stupid accidents happen so quickly you can't see them coming.
