Don't you hate it when...

...you happen to put your metal money clip in the same pocket as your folder and it scuffs it up? I do! The solution:

Grnamin:

That is a pretty high-speed idea. I use a 1 cent black binder clip, courtesy the US Government. Holds all my cash and cards and doesn't interfere with my knife clip.

Hooah, Dens! How are things in the Home of the Infantry and the Airborne?

Nice! I need one of those! I realized this weekend that my wallet only holds cards and receipts and that my money always stays in my front packet anyways.

I have a leather one that uses magnets. It is much nicer that the metal ones that scratch up your knives, but doesn't look as nice.

CD,
Email me your snail mail address and I'll send you one gratis. I'll see if I can make one tonight. I bake the kydex in my kitchen then shape it in my bathroom (easy to wash out the grit from my Dremel).

I had a magnetic one before, but it wouldn't stay shut if I had a lot of bills in a clump (lots of $1 bills).

Where the heck did everyone get so much money you need a clip!
I work and work and SHE takes it away

You know - this is an idea just waiting for someone to market it - talk about a tactical toy....

Clay, sorry, but I already sent the clip before I read your post on the serial number request. That's a funny idea, though. Hmmmm. Volume orders? I wonder if my kitchen oven and bathroom can handle them?

Well, I just got a pre-production model then.
Thanks Greg er Kitchen Kydex works.

This model is about 3" long and 1 1/2" about 1/4" thick with some holes drilled for lightness and non sticking action against a leather wallet. It's a foldover piece pinch like a J clip for a belt sheath and can hold a good amount of bills, daily cash unless you're a drug dealer and have a huge was.

I own about 2 money clips and here's a practical reason for the kydex. Nightclubs and certain government buildings don't like metal in pockets, with kydex you don't have to pull out and toss it in a bucket. So you get to go through faster. Also my clips sometimes get stuck to my wallet or snag a piece of change or something. I don't think the kydex will do it. Simplicity at work gang, simplicity.

Man! This is the first time I've ever had something I made reviewed here.

Kitchen Kydex Works? Hmmmm. Has a nice ring to it, Smoke. I wonder if I can actually market this thing.

-Greg

Got mine yesterday, Greg. Thanks, much. Very nice. It is in my pocket right now. Just needs some money to go into it...

What did you use as a form to mold it?

I agree with smoke -- it is nice not to have to dump everything out when going through a metal detector.

Hey Clay,
Glad you like it. I used another piece of kydex of the same thickness to mold the clip onto. I then used two other pieces of kydex to press the top of the clip down and to form the lip of the clip.

Believe it or not, I just went out clubbing with my girl and our friends. A big crowd and 1 hour and a half of dancing made a lot of sweat. With metal money clips or even rubber covered with metal, a money clip can stick to a leather wallet or a rubber clip to some change. The kydex stayed wher it was with no sticking.

Greg....would you consider trading a kydex money clip for one of this?

Yup! Trading's always good for a couple of clips.

You won't regret getting the clip. I use it everyday. I was at my future mother-in-law's workplace the other day -- the VA Regional Counsel office -- and, as it was a federal building, I had to go through the metal detector. It was nice to have one less metal object on me when I already had to take off pager, mobile phone, SAK, Sebenza, Wave, pen, keys, etc.

Now if I just had money to put in it...

Greg - if you ever start making these regularly, let me know! You've got a whole market out there waiting for something like this...
