i just ordered my own christmas gift(s), and it has been the longest evening ever... time going by so slow...
who else hates waiting for their knives to come in the mail??? if only i could afford overnight....

Haha, I hear you. I ordered my own gifts for my wife to give me. The bummer is they arrived last week. I feel like a kid again anxiously waiting for Christmas. :)

Sitting in a couple boxes are a Spyderco Manix, Kopa, Lava, Vile. Also a Case red bone slipjoint with the CV steel, a SAK soldier and that might be it. :)

I kept debating if I should sneak another one in there, like a BG-42 Military, or a Benchmade Rukus. I'm trying to be good and not totally blow the budget. :)

Just think of it as foreplay. ;)

You all had best NEVER place a custom order. I am on a 2+ year waiting list for a sword from Patrick Barta at TEMPL in the Czech Republic. I have one of his swords that I ordered in August of 2001 and received in April of 2002. Since then, his work has become immensely in demand and the waiting list has grown commensurately. But waits of more than a year for a custom order are not at all uncommon for a popular smith. My only problem is that they should tell you up front of this. I recently received an item from one who told me 3 months and took something like 10 months.

I ordered a new Vic Hunter 2 days ago. I just try to keep my mind off it and onto my other knives. My other knives keep accusing me of mental adultry. haha.

As far as knives go, I would have to say the only one I really couldn't wait to get was the DDR Gunhammer. Needless to say, I was NOT dissapointed.
Luckily it was UPS'd from mid Ohio, and I live in SE Mi. Actually only took ONE day with ground delivery.
Take Care

I learnt to be patient. I buy most of my knives on-line from the US and, since the Argentine postal service seems to employ liars and thieves almost exclusively, I have to wait for one of my American friends to come down here to get my knives.

My cousins are coming from Canada tomorrow and bringing me a new Barkie (Sperati Point) and a very nice Kershaw lockback with black micarta handle and VG-10 blade.

What I do HATE is when people who are bringing things for me forget them at home.

I can't wait like that. All my custom fixed blades (Dozier, Ingram, etc.) were either bought off of Ebay or from a website that jacks the price up.

I agree, I have a three on order for next year and two more in 2008. That is just a fact of life when you want one of the better know bladesmiths. Steven
