Well I'm going camping this weekend. Had to agree to go to the big lake that is right by the house, rather than up in the "GA Mountains", but the Mrs agreed, so we're going. Anyway went out today to get a fishing liscense, my daughter was sick last night so I had to stay home with her. She's of course better today, so I got the liscense, then was like, well hell girl, lets go fishing. We didn't catch anything....at all, but we got to sit out there and fish. It was great. Anyway we got home and she wanted to hear the Doobies. Anybody still love the Doobie Brothers? One of my favorites. Long Train Running is on now, but Black Water may be my favorite songs. Makes me so happy to be a southerner. What a day. NO WORK, no boss, fishing with the daughter, and now...Doobies. God dayum I love America!

I've listened to my share of The Doobie Brothers. Good stuff, though these days my tastes run more towards metal and jazz.

Sorry the fish weren't biting, but sounds like y'all had a good day, used to love taking my daughter fishing when she was little, and she got pretty good at catching 'em.
Doobies? Lord son, don't quit there, break out some Skynard, some Allman Brothers, and some .38 Special. Git 'r done  :D

Yep. Great day. I'll get another chance at em this weekend. They'll do better at night anyway. Hope to get some crappie. Haven't had the unparalelled deliscousness of crappie in a couple of years. I've never cought a fish out of that dang lake BTW, its full of striped bass, so they eat everything else. Dang Striped bass. The Army stocks 1/2 million stripers a year in that lake. They did that because people were throwing this large type of shiner in there and there was a population explosion of the critters. So, they added stripers to eat em up. Ate everything else up too though. Now thats about all you can catch. I'm not so big into the stripers, I like bream, crappie and largemouth bass. Sucks for me. Been in my house 5 years. I'm literally a mile from an enormous lake. Never pulled a fish out of it. Damn stripers anyway. My daughter and I were fishing for bait sized bream by the bank. Not even a nibble. Thats bad. Coulda done better in a ditch. We had fun though. Theres nothing like sitting out there with her and throwing rocks in and talking. Shes great!

2 other southern bands I really enjoy/enjoyed - Anyone ever listen to The Dixie Dregs or the Aquarium Rescue Unit? Another really great up and coming So. Band I really like is The Mood Cultivation Project and of course Widespread Panic

I've been to a WP show. Not a big fan, but a great band. I haven't heard of the other two. I'll have to check them out.

I'm more of a fan of the Allmans, heh, my alias or whatever you want to call it was brother Duanne's nickname. My way of tribute to one of the top 10 guitar players out there i suppose. But, I will gladly listen to the Doobies, Lord knows they blow most of todays music out of the water, IMO.

Every hear Derek Trucks band? Butch's son? Their most recent album is outstanding! I have seen him live several times, always good and also setting in with the String Cheese Incident.

Best concert I ever saw was put on by the Allman Brothers. And speaking of great guitarists, I'm going to see Nevermore on Saturday with my wife. Jeff Loomis is probably the best new guitarist I've heard in the last decade.

I am a Doobies, Allmans, Steve Morse/Dregs fan from way back.
I saw Morse in DC, an amazing show in a very small venue.
One of my motorcycles had the tag CRZMSL Cruise Missile, a Steve Morse tune. I used to hear it in my head as I rode the twisties on that RZ350.

No, I havent listened to the Derek Trucks Band, but they're on the long list of bands to check out. As a matter of fact, I just got about 15 gigs worth of bluegrass from my dad that I need to go through. I'll be looking foreward to that, good thing its the beginning of the summer.:D

If you just about name it he gave it to me. A bunch of older stuff like Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs and Jimmy Martin to Allison Kraus, Doyle Lawson and Ricky Skaggs. The Appalachian Uprising festival looks like a good show, you should check this out if youre into it http://www.sebabluegrass.org. I just got back today from a show with my dad, we didnt even watch the stage show except when we were getting food, the rest of the time we were jamming with the expert jammers. I was totally out of my league, but my dad has been playin banjo for 30 years now and deserves to be there. I ended up getting about 3 hours of sleep before we had to ride home for church, but it was the most fun I've had in a long time. Anyone else play bluegrass?
