OK, so I bought a charcoal handled Dorado a few months ago and then the camo version with 154cm came out and I had to have it to, (ATS34 version is next) but one thing that is bugging me is the difference in the lock. On the charcoal version I have the lock slides almost clear to the right side liner but still on the blade(looking down at it)and on the camo it just slides over on the blade about the thickness of the liner itself, like a framelock. Which is correct or incorrect or as long as the lockup is good does it matter:confused: . Just trying to figure this out before I get the next one ordered. Anyone else own a Dorado that can check theirs and see how it locks up?

I have several Buck liner locks. They all come within the same area you describe.
As far as I know as long as the blade locks open it shouldn't matter.
I have never had any problems with any of them. How do you like the Dorado?

I like the Dorado quite a bit Jim, the size is about right as I tend not to carry large knives anymore and I do like to collect so the choice of blade steels and different handle materials is a plus for me.

I just bought my first pair of Dorados from Buck, but they have not arrived yet. I'm sitting on pins and needles!!! :D I have never even handled one but I like the rest of their knives so I think these will be good too. I bought the rosewood handles and 154CM blades.

I have four Buck liner locks. The liner engagement varies from the bare width of the liner on the tang (1) to a hair either before or past center (3). All of them are solid and play free when open. I would prefer them all to have liner-width engagement, but none have given me reason yet to doubt their security (under light to medium duty use). If I had one that went over near to the right side, I would be more concerned about longevity than anything and would be thinking about exchanging it, but I admit it might last like that a long time, I don't know.
