After seeing shady A.M.'s post on the AAA LED thread I thought the Dorcy AAA deserved its own thread, so here it is.
I just have to say this light is great, very low price, good light output {about the same as my Arc AAA premium}, compact size, usually good availability, and you can even get it in different colored bodies.
I have four of them and have given more to friends and family.
The Dorcy is not as compact as the Arc so if you must put a light on your keychain the Arc would be better, or you could put a Photon on your keys and put the Dorcy in your pocket.
If you don't already have an LED light I think this light would be a great first one and you could get an idea of what everybody is so excited about.
Wal-mart has them for about six bucks. Patrick

I LOVE my Dorcy AAA. I use mine to get what's left of the juice out of my old batteries and it still shines brightly! I spent a few hours under the car yesterday and it was the light I used 95% of the time. Sure, it's not as heavily built as the Arc, but when it breaks I just buy another one for 6 bucks. I think it's a great invention to show the public that LEDs are here to stay!

I got a Dorcy AAA a few weeks ago and initially liked it, but the flimsy little metal thing used to fasten it to a key ring popped off and was lost. It puts out decent light and the tail button is a nice feature, but I won't be buying another one. It is now a fun toy for my 3 year old but for my use it has been replaced with a Peak 3 LED hi-output in brass that I am personally much happier with. The quality difference is greater than the difference in price, and yes it is relatively much more expensive. YMMV

For durability it's not the greatest, I'll agree there. When I'm working in a complex situation I prefer my CMG Ultra-G, which I like for it's size and ease of holding.

My favorite thing about the Dorcy is this; I beat the livin' crap out of it all the time. I love turning it on and chucking it at pavement, concrete, etc, just to watch it keep on ticking. My friends didn't understand me, so I bet them 10 bucks that even though their Maglite AA's and Solitiares were physically tougher, they couldn't turn them on and throw them as hard at something as I do and have them still work. They throw them, the bulb blows and they whine. I let them buy the Dorcy AAA first, then I just take the change :)

If I really wanna play, I'll pull out the Minimag Luxeon. It walks all over the Dorcy, Arc AAA, Arc AA and the GMC Sonic & Infinity. .

Yeah the Dorcy definitely deserves its own thread. Thanks Spinnerblade. As far as I'm concerned my Dorcy seems to have more usable light output and better throw than my Arc AAA. I'll still keep on searching for the ultimate mini-led but the Dorcy is here to stay!
