Recently won an Himalayan Imports Kobra by Kami Yuvraj(sp) and received it yesterday. The pics speak for themselves, but before I even opened the box my thought was "damn this is heavy." I don't have any scales, but this thing feels more like a Sirupate with a funny cho than anything else 20 inches long and 28 oz. IIRCC.
The blade is pretty good quality coming field-sharp and a few strokes with a 600 grit strop brought the edge out even better. What I find most praise-worthy is how good the handle is,it fits me perfectly. It's not overlarge,or rounded like a hoe handle, nice oval shape and the ring does what it is supposed to do.
I couldn't test it much, but I tested against some palmetto and other yard plants. Either my backswing is improving or this thing kicks ass cutting stuff up it whipped through some thick palmetto with just a hint of drag. First shot is next to a zippo on my workbench,to give a sense of scale.

i've had a few kobras in my day and they are one of my favorite designs.....

my 20" was made by bura and it was one of the best balanced knives i've ever owned....

quick enough to be a fighter, but substancial enough to chop with....in my opinion, the best khukuri design......

i think my dream khukuri would be a 19" kobra with chiruwa style handle.....

your's is very nice....

btw, i must be getting old, as i don't recognize the kami.....in my day, the kamis were bura, sanu, sher, kumar, kesar, and KWNN(kami with no name)...

Looks great:D:thumbup:

I love the kobra. I have a 20" and a 25". The 20" is my go-to machete and the 25" lives by the bed. I know they aren't designed for chopping, nor are they warrantied for such, but I have had no issues with either of mine in several years of pretty heavy use. The 20"er is 20 oz while the 25" is a brute at 32oz:eek: I wouldn't trade either for anything.

Oh, and this thread probably would be more at home in the HI forum instead of the cantina. 'scuse me while I shimmy it over there:D
