I'm pretty new in this sub-forum. I noticed there was no DOTD for the last couple of days. Do they normally run every day, or just whenever?

They usually run when Yangdu has the time and the stuck - but she is a busy women and there are not always deals to be had (also her digital camera is being fixed at the moment).
 
It could just be me, but I have noticed a recent decline in DOTD's.
 
There's also been production hiccups lately to consider.

If you want something, email her, don't wait for a DOTD.

I hope this wasn't meant to be a secret, but if you look at the prices of standard items, the DOTD is often only $5 or $10 less. IMO not something I worry about if it's something I want.

Albeit some are like 50% off. . .;)
 
I think the DOTDs run in spurts. Sometimes there is a huge allotment of khukuris offered, and other times there is only one or two. For instance, Yangdu cannot offer blems as a deal if there are no blemished blades.

Once in a while, I like to go back and look at old DOTDs. Once in a while, not every knife is sold. It is my understanding (and I could be very wrong about this) that Yangdu still has a lot of these unsold DOTD knives. If that's the case, you could try e-mailing her to inquire what unsold DOTD knives are available.
 
Let's also note Yangdu's recent statement that inventory is running low: that would surely affect whether DotDs are available.
