In my quest to figure out what is rare and odd in the 112 series I've been trying to know for sure when Buck went to full radiused frame, front bolster only and the slight difference in the early hand radiused and later machined radiused 112's. This is the same time frame Buck also transitioned from 2 dot to 3 dot blades making it harder to recognize a real rarity from one that's just not seen often. Since Buck is known for odd knives that 'Should not be' but are found I've been trying to get a sense of what to look for. I believe now that the Stag 112's especially don't follow the general rules of when radiused bolsters and the 3 dot blades come together.
Three dot blades are generally considered to be 1980 to 1981 and then Buck went to 4 dot to signify a change in production and radiused frames are 'generally' from 1982 on. So a 112 with a 3 dot blade and radius frame isn't quite right..I'm still working it all out with the Stag 112's especially how many 3 dot versions were made as Joe said in a old thread 1400 were made in the 80's..but I can't believe there's a lot with 3 dot blades..
