:D Alright!!!!

Today I was at home for lunch and I tried a double aerial! Success!!
Unfortunately when attempting with my right hand I suffered blade contact with the middle finger right in the fold of the middle digit. No bleeding but I certainly have built some new nerves that tell me I can do it without injury. Now it's time for some perfecting!:D

Does anyone else have any double aerial stories to tell?

Funny enough but the 1st ariel I landed was a triple. It was about the 5th one that I tried, right when I was about to make the throw my brother came in my room screamin like H***. I got scared, threw it really hard and was very suprised that I caught it. Now I can only land those about half the time. Miracle I didnt cut myself.

Do a couple singles to get the exact feel of the knife, then toss it a little higher and bam! :) They are more dangerous and less predicable than singles but look amazing to others. :) Triples I've not tried...

Hey! Congratulations man!! Double aerials are a big part of my routine. I find that I can do them much easier than single aerials because you have more time to catch it. Keep practicing and stock up on bandaids. ;)

when I've been outside, I've tried Mega-aerials.
I don't know how mant times it completely flips, probably about 5-8, but I toss it 25+ feet into the air. It's all luck, maybe... It's kind of like those "devil stix" where you have two rubber coated sticks, and you spinn the third weighted stick. High areials are easy as long as you know HOW to catch it.
It's stunts like these that usually re-introduces myself to the pointy end. Not usually the edge, just the point.

Either it lands in your hand open, or closed, or sloppy or pointy.

Either way it's fun...

Now I'm trying to learn one where I toss from behind my back, and it spins like twice over my shoulder, and then the ever elusive open catch.

I see now how some people have cuts on their chin, or ear...

Keep it up!

Thanks Blade, I can toss an open blade as high as I can and catch them with no casualties, lots of practice throwing knives will get you used to this, I'm sure at somepoint it will blend over to the balisong aerials when I get a yard and enough practice. I've done the "Over the shoulder Balisong toss" and have only suffered from a cut on my chest. My Lady was sure curious about that one:o

I tried the old over the shoulder toss a few months back and cut a tendon in my tumb on the catch. Couldn't move it for about a week. I haven't had the balls to try it since. :)

Hey Blasto,:D I'd be a little nervous to (forgive the pun), To help with a confidence factor, move with the blade. Try some practice runs with the blade (not you _420;) ) in the locked position. You'd be suprised but the rotation speed is relatively the same, the only difference is the handles free spinning rotation. Keep focused on the blade (again not you _420 :D )and it will be much easier.

WOW !!! You guys have some real guts.I would be scared SH*Tless to do it over my shoulder. I am even scared to do an arieal without tape. I've been stabed plenty of times tying without tape . But with the tape I can do them almost perfect everytime.

Also how would you guys start it and throw it over you're shoulders? I want to try it now.:D (with tape of course);)

Do it in the opened position and you will have a much easier time of keeping your eye on the blade. I have been throwing knives as long as I have been manipulating balisongs, maybe more. "Keeeep your eye on the fruuuuuit!" don't worry Mr. Zesterhouse everything will be just fine as long as you don't catch the pointy end in the palm of your hand!:D

Chinese man - Horizontal basic, when you get to the ricochet you rotate your arm under the pit and release behind your back (try not to lodge the bali into the back of your head  :D ) kneeling helps one get used to the motions without serious impact of your bali but you must be sure not to impale your leg.;)

I've been praticing some Aerials of my own. I've got the single spin down perfectly so I can more or less catch it open 98% of the time. Of course I don't tape my blades, it just isn't as fun otherwise :p

Over the sholder catch?? what a good idea!!! :D

I once heard mention of a horizontal aerial, with the bali parallel to the ground. Does anyone have any tips? I can only get it about 15 degrees from flat.

I used to know a guy that did a horizontal aerial. He'd start out with the bali in the left hand, and as he opened the knife with a horizontal underhand grip,he'd extend his wrist further out & down so that the knife would flow underneath his arm. He'd get a good spin going on the knife as it started to go around his hand, then he'd make it fly across to his right hand and continue the move to an open position.I should see if I can remember exactly how to do it.I did it a few times back in the old days, but forgot about it over the years.

Any .avi's or .mpeg videos of anyone doing this over the sholder aerial? I need to watch someone do it as I just can't seem to figure out how it works.
