From what I can find, there didn't seem to be a lot of positive buzz about the Double Bevel before it came out, but I have finally decided I really like it and will buy one sometime this year. Does anyone have one and care to comment on it?

I'm mostly interested in whether the hollow and flat sections have to be sharpened separately and whether their will be differing effects on cutting substrates in cases where the whole edge is used to complete a cut.

I dig mine, but won't use it much.

It is among the most perfctly fitted and finished production knives I've ever seen. It's every bit as good as a picky Al Mar SERE 2000, and I believe they come from the same factory. The construction is interesting, having different screws to hold the G10 onto the steel frame, than for the standoffs. Open back design, super thick liner lock (half as thick as the blade) perfectly tuned from the factory. It's custom quality in a $160 production knife. The only disappointment is the white nylon washers - they could at least have used Nylatron, made popular by Bob Terzuola, in a knife with his name on it, but phosphor bronze would be better.

The flat ground portion slices very well. The hollow ground portion cuts fine. I opened a bunch of packaging and didn't notice where one edge ends and the other begins. I wouldn't use the DB for tasks requiring the entire cutting edge because I prefer "beater" knives, like an FFG Endura, for similar chores.

It's super "clean" with a great blade to handle length ratio. I'll wear mine when I wear a suit, which is almost never.

Sorry for taking so long to follow up on my own thread. Thank you for your input Matthew! I heard it was done nicely and your email confirms that.

I've had one a couple of weeks. At first, I was pretty disappointed. It initially appeared cheap and just not up to the quality I was used to with Spyderco. I have since changed my mind. Its a pretty nice knife and I didn't find the double bevel to be too challenging to sharpen on my Wicked Edge. I personally like the size (which a lot of folks find to be too small). My only real complaint I have left is that the detent is almost non-existant. Until I tightened the blade pivot, I could easily open it with a minor flick of the wrist. Even now, I can open it by putting pressure on the jimping by the spyder hole. If the detent were more positive, I would probably carry it occasionally.
