Double Bit Hatchet?

Does anyone know if a commercially available but not too pricey doubel bit hatchet? i love the Nessmuk type bouble bit hatchet but can't afford any of the customs that are out there (but they do make me drool). thanks, Dan
 
I re-hung a one of the Marbles, it's pretty good. Except, the eye is weird, it's 3 overlaping holes, if that makes sense. The original handle broke in about 5 swings.
 
I haven't heard anything good or bad about the double-bit tomahawks from Dixie Gun Works. Supposedly hand forged, but I'm guessing they're pretty rough (at under 20 bucks). I like the idea of a removeable handle. Seems like Cold Steel could be making ones like this, too.

The Marbles handle is weird, but it is the same design as an original small hatchet I have by Marbles. I used mine once and the head flew off. I was very angry and called Marbles at the time. Could have hit one of the kids or myself. They sent me another one and a knife. I never used the double hatchet again. I sent the original one back to them without the sheath. They sent me one back without a sheath but the woodcraft knife made up for it. In fact, I haven't even used the knife. I think they are out of business now. A similar looking hatchet is being manufactured overseas.
 
You could use a dremel or something to open the top of the eye and taper it, then put a slot in the handle and a wedge like a normal axe.
I would have tried it but before I gave it away to someone.
 
those Marble db axes had the tendency to come off the handles so some of the guys drilled through the side of the eye and pinned them on.

i would like to find one of the Dixie Gun works axes.

i don't see this axe listed on their web site/
does anybody know if they are available, the axes that is?

I can show you a 28 inch Cruiser but Nessmuks are pretty hard to come by... your best option might be Condor's Michigan Cruiser. I think it has an 18 inch handle
